Glucose transporter 1 (or GLUT1), also known as solute carrier family 2, is a protein facilitating the transport of glucose across the plasma membranes of mammalian cells. Several GLUT isoforms have been identified and shown to function in response to insulin and IGF-1 induced signaling.
